From Yesterday to Today...
A Reputation for Doing the Job Right the First Time
1947-
As partners, Gilbert Hayslett and Guy
Goodlett opened Goodlett and Hayslett Plumbing & Heating in August
1947. Realizing that a small "unimportant" job was important
to the owner and might also lead to other contacts, Goodlett and
Hayslett Plumbing & Heating gave the same painstaking attention to a
small repair job as they did to a large contract. Well aware that the
old fashioned home without plumbing would soon be a thing of the past,
they began to stock a complete line of nationally known brands of
households fixtures. The firm had the franchise in Harrodsburg for
Hotpoint appliances and carried a complete line of Tappan gas ranges,
gas heating equipment and lots of plumbing equipment.
1954-
In 1954, Gilbert and Guy dissolved their
partnership and Gilbert Hayslett found Gil Hayslett Plumbing &
Heating. The company maintained a complete service department
doing repair work on all appliances and plumbing and heating equipment.
In order to diversify and grow, a pipeline division was established in
the 1960s. Gilbert became well known and respected for his
knowledge and expertise in boilers and pipeline.
1966-
After attending Campbellsville College,
Don Hayslett joined his father's company in 1966. Don realized the
growing demand for air conditioning and began designing and installing
residential, commercial and industrial air conditioning systems. Under
Don's leadership, the company embarked on a course of growth into a
complete mechanical contracting firm and the company changed to Hayslett
Mechanical Contractors, Inc in 1974. In the mid 1980s, the company
became a Lennox dealer and has since then offered a full line of Lennox
heating and cooling products. Don currently has a master plumbing and
HVAC license, journeyman plumbing and HVAC license, septic tank license,
and boiler license.
1996-
Don Hayslett's son, Gil Hayslett II,
joined the company in 1996 after graduating from the University of
Kentucky. Gil is now primary estimator and assists his father in
day-to-day operations. He has placed a top priority on a safe
construction environment by implementing an Accident Prevention Policy.
The personal safety and health of each employee and customer is of
primary importance. The objective of Hayslett Mechanical is a safety
and health program that will reduce the number of injuries and illnesses
to
an absolute minimum, not merely in keeping with, but surpassing the best
experience of similar operations by others. Gil currently has a master
HVAC license and plumbing license.
Today, Hayslett Mechanical Contractors,
Inc. has approximately twenty employees and serves the residential,
commercial, and industrial markets in Central Kentucky. Due to many
years of experience, Hayslett Mechanical has earned a reputation for
doing the job right the first time.
